Terms and what we keep

Watching the city does not make an account. We don't sell what you do here, and we don't run ad trackers. Here's the whole list. 🌱

👀 Who is watching

This tab gets a random id, stored only in sessionStorage. It is sent every few seconds so the city can count open pages. The server forgets it about twelve seconds after the tab goes quiet. It is not your name.

🏙️ The city's memory

Buildings, beats, and milestones are saved in this browser and on the server so the world can still be there when you come back. That diary is about the city, not about you.

🔑 A Venice key, only if you paste one

A key you add stays in this browser and is sent to the server so the city can ask Venice for words. Leave the box alone and we never see one. Keys are not written into the public git repo.

🗣️ What you tap and what you search

Tapping a life, or searching the city, sends those words to the server. If a key is live, they may go to Venice to write one sentence or to look through the city's memory. We don't build a profile from that.

📚 The book

Buying the book sends the card and the shipping name and address to Stripe. The printer receives the address so the book can be mailed. We don't keep the card number.

🛠️ Admin

Signing in to admin sets a session cookie in that browser. It expires. It is not used to watch the city.

Drag, turn, and zoom stay on this page. Closing the tab drops the watch id. Clearing site data drops the city copy in this browser. 🌙
